Treatment

I use different treatment methods and tailor them to your specific needs. The treatment modalities I use support with emotional processing and gaining skills so you can see change in your life.

  • EMDR

Eye motion desensitization reprocessing (EMDR) is an approach that can be helpful for trauma. This approach supports emotional processing and is a deliberate way to revisit past events in a way that decreases reactivity. It includes identifying negative beliefs that have developed as a result of trauma and creating a timeline of events that have contributed to that belief. EMDR uses bilateral, back and forth, movement as you focus on events.

  • IFS

Internal family systems (IFS) aids in exploring parts of you. Common experiences of “parts” are when you sense a negative voice in your mind or feel an internal conflict between two competing needs. In this approach, parts of self are explored to help clarify why a part is showing up and how you can respond to it. The goal of this treatment is building a sense of balance and working with your self rather than against it.

  • CBT

Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) focuses on the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behavior. This treatment helps bring awareness to patterns and how you can shift into healthier patterns. CBT is a behavioral approach that encourages immediate change. It often uses thought challenging and mindfulness skills.

  • ACT

Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on values, acceptance, mindfulness, and mental flexibility. This approach increases awareness of how you contribute to patterns. It is a behavioral treatment that helps you change through directly connecting to your emotions and values.

  • Existential

Existential therapy assists with the exploration of meaning. Suffering can come from a lack of purpose, authenticity, and self understanding. This approach is philosophical and helps you clarify who you are separate from influences. It supports with navigating life challenges such as death and change.

  • Psychodynamic

Psychodynamic therapy draws attention to underlying emotional themes. It addresses repressed or unresolved emotions that create concerns in your life. Its primary goals are to increase awareness of patterns, how the past impacts the present, and how to work towards resolution of core emotional needs.
